Made famous by Sex in the City, but this classic has been around much longer.
What is it?
The Cosmopolitan or Cosmo is a sweet cocktail with just a touch of tang made by the lime. The Cosmo is typically served in a martini glass and Even though Sex in the City reclassified it as a “girly” drink, this drink actually has a longer history of being a “man’s man” drink and was a staple during famou Madison Avenue three-martini lunches.
Why is it called that?
Bartender Neal Murray claims he he created the cosmopolitan in 1975 at the Cork & Cleaver steak house in Minneapolis. He claims he added a splash of cranberry juice to a Kamikaze and the first taster declared, “How cosmopolitan!”
