Classic cocktail for Sunday brunch or laughing at your enemies.
What is it?
The Bloody Mary cocktail is a classic. This drink has become a staple for Sunday brunch and is a popular hangover cure. In the United States, it is usually consumed in the morning or early afternoon, and is popular as a hangover cure.
Why is it called that?
Truthfully no one knows, but that isn’t any fun! We did some digging and it is believed the Bloody Mary used to be a drink called the Red Snapper*. It was renamed as Bloody Mary after Queen Mary Tudor and her bloody reign against Protestants in England in the 1500s. They claim the red of the tomato juice represents the blood of her victims.
Next time you drink a Bloody Mary, don’t say “Cheers” just laugh an evil laugh.
