It’s a martini, ’nuff said!
What is it?
The martini has been called one of the greatest American inventions. It is certainly one of the most well known drinks around. It has inspired books, documentaries, and songs.
Why is it called that?
This drink was first created by Bond, James Bond. Not really but it is as good a theory as we could find on the internet so that is our story and we’re stickin’ to it!
How to make it?
Oooh boy! We don’t think any drink can cause so much debate like the martini can. Shake it? Stir it? You do you!
The Martini
- 1 1/2 oz gin
- 1/4 oz dry vermouth (or the amount of your preference)
- Garnish: cocktail olives
Mix both ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with olives.
Variations
A wet martini contains more vermouth.
50-50 martini uses equal amounts of gin and vermouth. An upside-down or reverse martini has more vermouth than gin.
A dirty martini contains a splash of olive brine or olive juice and is typically garnished with an olive.
A perfect martini uses equal amounts of sweet and dry vermouth.
